Philippine Community

    From the Editor:

    Dear Readers and Sponsors,

How was that with the jolly story of Santa Claus? As far as I can recall: Sasha Schulz, dressed in red suit and hides under a long snow-white beard at the Filipino-Berliner Christmas party, brings joy and laughter to the children and grown-ups alike. This celebration has become an annual community tradition and is growing bigger every year. The first Filipino-German gathering held in the Pfarrsaal of the Heilig-Geist Kirche in 1985 had only a handful of families but filled with the same joyful spirit of Christmas as it was 2012.

We all miss him. Fr. Adonis Narcelles SVD was only 40 years old when he died while serving as the community chaplain of the Filipino migrants in Berlin from 2004 to 2011. We pay tribute to your life and mission!

We take this opportunity to congratulate Manaoag Prayer Group and Devotees, CWL, Family Group, CFC- FFL, Legionaries of Mary, and Shalom on their successful anniversary celebrations.

Thanks to the numerous positive support and critic of the Migrant June issue, we were motivated to increase the number of pages from 20 to 24 for December thereby covering more community events. To augment the creativity of the staff, three new members joined us namely: Dr. Rey Agana, Rey de Paz and Emy Brandeis. Finally, may we wish one and all...

       A Holy Christmas Celebration
and a successful New Year 2013!
