The celebration started at 12 noon when participants in the painting contests tranlated in colors the meaning of the Holy Scriptures in their daily life. 14 posters were painted by the contestants under three categories: children, youth and adults. The Bible Games continued after the Holy Mass. Some of these games were: Trip to Jerusalem, Book Relay, Bible Quiz, Bring me to Jerusalem, etc.
“The Word of God is alive and active,” (Heb. 4:12) was given emphasis during the Mass where three community members shared the importance of the Bible in their lives. Heinz Eller, Babyrose Heinrich, Tess Esavedra, Girlie Schramm and Jesse Sandoval touched the community with their personal witnessing.
The celebration was also multi-lingual. The First Reading was read by Tos Libunao in Tagalog while the Second Reading was read by Nori Hoffmann in German. The Prayers of the Faithful was said in Kapampangan (Jomar Gangcuangco), Bicolano (Lulu Müller), Bisaya (Nitz Densing-Töpfler), Tagalog (Marivic Wiedmann), Ilocano (Cora Reyes) and Ilonggo (Annie Rosner).
Bibles were also brought to the altar during the offertory procession and blessed after the Holy Mass. Likewise, the offertory song and the Our Father was interpreted by members of the community. This year’s Bible Sunday which has the theme: “God’s Word: The Standard of Justice and Right Living” was sponsored and organized by the Bible Sharing Groups, the Couples for Christ, Shalom and Loved Flock Communities.
It was again a Sunday full of fun, prayers and new impulses on the Bible, the “living and active” Word of God.
